
2 dead, dozens injured in Georgia block party shooting – WSB-TV Channel 2
VIENNA, Ga. — Two people died and 35 others were injured in a mass shooting at a block party in Georgia.
The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting happened around 1:25 a.m. on Pine Street in Vienna, about two hours south of Atlanta.
“This weekend was supposed to be a party,” Sheriff Craig Peavy said. Channel 2’s Michael Doudna. “A thousand people were in the streets for a block party – until… people heard pops.”

Peavy identified the deceased victims as Jaquevion Jackson, 21, and McCaleb Jackson, 23. The injured victims range in age from 14 to 51 and their condition ranges from critical to stable.
“We empathize with the families and I give them my word that we will pursue and try to get justice for them,” Peavy said.

Peavy said deputies were already stationed at both ends of the block party when the shooting began.
The sheriff said officers pushed through the panicked crowd to reach the victims, even as more gunshots rang out nearby.
“It was a big scene that took everyone we had and then some,” Peavy said.
It remains unclear whether any suspects are being sought or detained, nor is a possible motive for the shooting known.
