2 dead, including a teenager, as police investigation takes place in Arcadia and Pasadena

ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) — Two people died, including a teenage girl, as a criminal investigation spanning Arcadia and Pasadena was underway Thursday afternoon, with police investigating two separate scenes, authorities said.

An investigation was underway at an apartment in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive in Arcadia, police said. Video from the scene shows part of a balcony glass door broken.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, officers responded to the scene after receiving a report that a man inside the home had fired a gun.

“It sounded like something fell from a height, like something heavy fell. It was like a loud bang,” said a neighbor who lives just down the hall.

“When officers arrived, the man had fled the scene and officers discovered a young female suffering from a gunshot wound,” Arcadia police said in a news release.

The victim died on the spot. His name is not being released at this time. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

Police were also investigating a scene on Arroyo Parkway near Glenarm in Pasadena, where a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.

Arcadia Police were involved in this investigation.

Employees at an auto repair shop across the street told Eyewitness News they heard a gunshot, then ran outside to see police approaching a person to handcuff them.

“We look out the window, there’s this guy, he’s laying face down. A few seconds later, police come and close the area off,” said Michael Amini, manager of Alliance Auto Body Works.

Authorities have not released details about how the two scenes might be linked. Authorities were continuing their investigation and no additional information was immediately available.
