2 men injured in downtown Portland shooting; 4 detainees
PORTLAND, Ore — Two men suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after a shooting in downtown Portland early Saturday, police said.
Officers responded around 12:20 a.m. to a reported disturbance near 3rd Avenue Southwest and West Burnside Street. While en route, officers heard gunshots and found evidence of a shooting at the scene, but no victims or suspects were located.
Police then identified a possible suspect vehicle leaving downtown on Interstate 84. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled at a high speed. They did not pursue the vehicle; instead, the Portland Police Air Support Unit followed it until its occupants stopped near Northeast 58th Avenue and Northeast Flanders Street and ran into the neighborhood.
Officers from several precincts and the K9 unit surrounded the area and arrested four men while the investigation continued.
Police learned that two adult males arrived at a local hospital in a private vehicle with gunshot wounds. Both were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team is investigating. Anyone with information or video related to the shooting is asked to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, attention: ECST and reference case number 26-288413.
