“A few years ago there was a men’s rights campaigner on British television, but in a nutshell his thesis was that men too are regularly victims of sexism.
The problem was that the presenters’ first question was basically “Do you just hate women?” » — there was also a “feminist” in the segment who only denigrated his arguments with “what about women?
As far as I remember, this guy was very fair in presenting his opinions and using his voice to try to raise awareness about men’s issues. The problem was that this was automatically seen as a dismissal of women’s suffering, which he was not doing.
It’s things like this that leave me completely unsurprised by the rise of Andrew Tates and the manospheres in the Western world. »

“Dude, I just had this exact experience listening to NPR for two days. The first interview was with a UK researcher talking about the “male loneliness epidemic/crisis”, which from what he presented is basically all of the major comments in this thread, supported by some data and also addressing suicide data and other facts have disappeared or been co-opted by manosphere bs.
It was a good interview, but the next day the host went after a woman who came in just to kind of denounce everything the guy said. The host was laughing and jovial, completely negating any serious attempt to talk about the issues facing men today.
What really excites me about these conversations and their usual reorientation toward women’s issues that are more important, or men’s issues that some don’t even really exist, is that ignoring these issues will only create more hurt men in the world who will hurt others.
If people want men to be better, then they need to take their problems seriously, because the alternative is to let things get worse for everyone. »
