Best James Bond game in a very long time, 007 First Light brilliantly brings the character back to life. Telling the origin story of the future spy, the game is a combination of open sandbox missions, linear settings and narrative moments, resulting in a very engaging blockbuster. It tells a decent story, establishes fantastic new takes on well-known characters, and lays a solid foundation with excellent spy and action gameplay.

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is a wonderful example of modernizing a classic game, offering new quality of life features and a fresh coat of paint while retaining its original feel. For die-hard RTS fans who can’t wait to pick up something new, this is a must-buy, and an adaptable AI difficulty level means there’s something for everyone.

ARC Raiders is a phenomenal showcase of what immersive multiplayer can be. Each race is different and your team will come up with stories to tell each time. This may be more difficult for those planning to play solo, and the rip loop won’t be suitable for everyone. But as far as pull shooters go, this is one of the most accessible, and it respects your time, giving you a fun experience from your first match. It can easily be said that ARC Raiders is one of the best multiplayer games of this generation.

Axiom Verge is PlayStation’s own Metroid. This may seem a little demeaning, but it is undeniable that this space adventure and Nintendo’s have several things in common. Still, if being compared to one of the most beloved game series of all time isn’t a compliment, then we don’t know what is. If you’ve never seen the appeal of these types of games, chances are this won’t change your mind. But dedicated fans of the genre will undoubtedly love Tom Happ’s opus.
$17.99/£14.99 (-70%)
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden combines an excellent narrative with engaging and enjoyable gameplay. The low enemy variety and technical flaws keep it from achieving true greatness, but its excellent story-driven side quests on the other side make a few lackluster fights worth fighting. The studio’s best game to date, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a new IP that we hope will be here to stay.
$27.99/£27.99 (-60%)
Battlefield 6 is a phenomenal multiplayer experience that immerses and impresses with its chaotic mix of tight shooting, top-notch audio design, and the cinematic flair that made us love the series in the first place. The campaign is nothing to write home about, and Portal has yet to fully prove its worth, but they are additions to what is easily the best Battlefield in over a decade.
$9.99/£8.99 (-80%)
BioShock: The Collection is exactly what it says on the tin: three fan-favorite games in one place and remastered for play on PS4. The first is a true modern classic, introducing us to the disturbing underwater city of Rapture, while the sequels build on what it achieves in very interesting ways. Each game places you in a fascinating, collapsing setting, and a mix of weapons and powers makes for a unique set of shooters. These are daring and unusual games that stand out for their incredible worlds and subversive narratives.
$7.49/£6.24 (-75%)
Blasphemous 2 takes the foundations of its well-received predecessor and builds on them in all the right ways. Adjusting combat to make it faster, smoother, and more precise, removing instant death scenarios to make platforming more manageable, and filling the game to the brim with secrets and collectibles. The great attention to detail in presentation and high level of polish make Blasphemous 2 a delightfully memorable experience that players will remember fondly for years to come.
$7.99/£6.39 (-60%)
Cat Quest 3 builds on the first two entries in this cult favorite series, delivering perhaps the best yet. With a pirate theme introducing nautical crossing and combat, this is a larger action RPG that keeps things simple, with that illustrated art style and cheeky humor. Those looking for a light adventure need look no further.
$17.49/£34.99 (-75%/-50%)
Sony has comfortably hooked the enthusiast crowd by adding Demon’s Souls to the PS5 launch lineup. FromSoftware’s legendary action RPG – which would spawn the so-called Soulsborne series and, eventually, even Elden Ring – was snubbed by the Japanese giant during the PS3 era because it felt the early versions simply weren’t up to par. Publishers like Atlus and Bandai Namco eventually picked it up and it became a cult classic. Perhaps as a tacit acknowledgment that it made a mistake, its tech specialists recruited Bluepoint Games to remake the game for a modern era – and the results are remarkable. This version uses the original PS3 code to deliver an incredibly authentic experience, but its visuals are some of the best you’ll find on Sony’s next-gen console. It’s an extraordinary blend of old and new that comes highly recommended.
$14.99/£11.99 (-25%)
Denshattack is an explosive, kinetic arcade game that delivers some of the most focused fun on PS5. With its ridiculous train simulation premise and complex but satisfying gameplay, it exudes a light, optimistic energy through its story as well as its design, which introduces new ideas until the end. Once the controls are clicked, it’s just a joy to play.
$4.49/£3.74 (-85%)
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided had a lot to live up to after the revival of the hit series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and it almost achieved it. While it doesn’t quite measure up in terms of storytelling, the immersive simulation remains a strong sci-fi adventure with fantastical environments to explore and flexible gameplay that the series is known for. While stealth is largely the way to go, you have plenty of opportunities to achieve your goals in your own way.
$9.99/£8.74 (-75%)
DmC: Devil May Cry – Definitive Edition is one of the PS4’s most thoughtful remasters, and the emphasis on modifiers means you can more or less tailor the experience to your tastes. We still don’t know if old-school Devil May Cry fans will indulge in Ninja Theory’s version of the series, but many of the tweaks have been designed with these outspoken individuals in mind. For everyone else, the Cambridge-based company’s confident take on Capcom’s character action classic is worth playing – and while its previous-gen hallmarks are still present, its improved visuals and improved framerate make this particular edition a paradise.
