A new American aircraft carrier, the USS “George Washington”, has arrived in the Middle East
The American army formalized, Thursday August 20, the arrival of a new aircraft carrier in the Middle East, replacing theAbraham-Lincolndeployed at sea for eight months.
The A.S.S. George Washington “is operating in the Middle East as part of the planned deployment after arriving in the area of operation of the (United States Central Command) yesterday “specified the American command for the Middle East on its X account.
The daily life of sailors aboard the aircraft carrier Abraham-Lincolndeployed at sea for more than eight months, had sparked criticism in the United States. For several days, elected officials as well as families of sailors have confronted army leaders about the difficult conditions to which the crew was exposed, including food shortages. Some relatives of the sailors have reported serious mental health problems and suicide attempts on board.
Last week, Donald Trump sharply brushed aside these concerns, while confirming the replacement of the ship by the George Washingtonwhile Defense Minister Pete Hegseth believed the situation had been “caricatured”.
The aircraft carrier Abraham-Lincoln had left San Diego, California, on November 21, 2025 for a mission in the South China Sea and was redirected to the Middle East before the United States launched, with Israel, its attacks against Iran on February 28.
With the deployment of George Washingtonthere will no longer be, at least temporarily, an American aircraft carrier left in the Pacific. A boon for Beijing with which the White House is in competition.
