Aaron Paul mourns Breaking Bad co-star RJ Mitte: ‘I’m so sorry you suffered, my friend’
Aaron Paul paid tribute to his Break the bad co-star RJ Mitte after his death at age 34.
The actor, who played Jesse Pinkman on the AMC series, took to social media to commemorate Mitte.
“RJ, you have always been an inspiration to so many. I’m so sorry that you hurt my friend. I wish we knew,” Paul wrote. “You constantly had a smile on your face and took on every challenge thrown at you with such confidence and grace.”
He continued: “I met you when you were a little boy and watched you grow into a handsome young man. Facing every challenge head on.”
Paul noted that the last time he saw Mitte, he kept calling him Superman, adding: “You reminded me of him. You made me think of him because you always led with kindness and strength. It was blinding. You were born into a world with challenges but you never let any of that get in your way.”
The actor called Mitte’s death “an absolutely tragic loss” and sent a note to anyone in a difficult situation.
“I hope that anyone reading this and feeling lost, sad, or uncertain about the future will say something. Life is so special,” he wrote. “There’s no way we exist, but yet we’re all here. There’s so much going on in our lives, but there’s way too much beauty in this world to ignore. We need to focus on that. We need to drown out the noise and focus on each other. Support each other. That’s what this life is all about. Connect with someone you care about and tell them I love you.”
Mitte’s representatives confirmed the news, saying he committed suicide in Brownsville, Texas.
Paul ended his message by saying: “RJ, I love you my friend. I’m so sorry.”
