A group of grocery stores, including Stop & Shop, Hannaford and Food Lion, are experiencing outages of their websites and mobile apps this week.
Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of the grocery and other chains, said Monday in a statement updated Tuesday that it was experiencing a cybersecurity issue within its network.
The issue prompted the company to take “precautionary measures, including taking some systems offline to help protect them.”

“We recognize that these actions have caused disruption to customers, associates and partners, but protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority,” Ahold Delhaize said, adding that its teams were working urgently to “investigate the incident and safely restore affected systems.”
“As they move forward with assessing and mitigating issues, we are in the process of initiating a controlled relaunch of some systems.”

Food Lion’s website said the chain’s “website and app are currently unavailable,” adding, “We are working to restore service as quickly as possible.” Customers can place delivery orders through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats. Any unfulfilled orders placed through FoodLion.com or the Food Lion App will be refunded.
