MADISON, Wis. — The Alpha Epsilon Pi Nationals have suspended chapter programming following a hazing incident.
AEPi nationals have been placed under a ban on action pending the outcome of the investigation, according to communications director Jonathan Pierce.

“AEPi Headquarters has issued a cease and desist directive to its Pi Chapter in Madison, Wisconsin, suspending all chapter programs pending a full investigation into alleged violations of the fraternity’s health and safety guidelines.
The national chapter said the directive prohibits new member meetings, social and fellowship events, philanthropy, chapter activities on social media and other chapter gatherings, while allowing essential administrative responsibilities of the board of directors to continue. AEPi said it urges its members to fully cooperate with the investigation, which will inform recommendations to the fraternity’s Supreme Board of Governors regarding further actions impacting the chapter and/or individual members.
This investigation follows the arrest of two people at an unauthorized fraternity Wednesday evening.
Officers were dispatched to the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, located along the 100 block of Langdon Street around 8:20 p.m. The police received an anonymous tip regarding this event.
Police said inside the basement of the residence and found about 30 other partially clothed men covered in food, condiments and other liquids. According to police, the vast majority of those present were 18 years old, and several of the men had visible injuries suggesting physical assault. A thermostat in the room was set at 81 degrees, creating hot and humid conditions.
Officers declared the event illegal and everyone was escorted outside, according to police, and all engagements were checked by officers for incapacitation and injuries.
Police said Alpha Epsilon Pi is an unrecognized and unaccredited student organization, having been disbanded by UW-Madison more than a decade ago.
Brayden J. Klein and Samuel N. Vane, 20, were both arrested for hazing and disorderly conduct. Both were taken to the Dane County Jail.
