Amanda Seyfried Bans Sex Scenes: ‘I’m Not Comfortable With It’

Amanda Seyfried is putting the kibosh on sex scenes at this point in her career. During a conversation with Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival (via People), the Oscar nominee revealed that she “turned down a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex. It doesn’t matter (who it’s with)… I don’t want to do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not interested right now.”

“Maybe if (the project) came back (later), maybe I would be in a different space. But I don’t want to end up naked with a stranger,” Seyfried added.

The actress said that being an actress “gets weirder and weirder” as she gets older because “we have to be romantic with people we’re not romantic with. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable. But I can’t believe that at the time I was like, ‘We have to kiss. Awesome ! It’s great. I know how to kiss.” They pay me.

Seyfried previously told Porter magazine that she wished intimacy coordinators existed on film sets when she was a teen actress. In her younger years, Seyfried intentionally made herself uncomfortable because she believed it was the only way to keep her job.

“Being 19, walking around without my underwear, are you kidding me? How did I let this happen?” Seyfried said at the time. “Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to bother anyone and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.”

During her conversation with Baldwin, Seyfried said she’s doing a much better job these days of creating boundaries for herself as an actress on and off screen.

“I have kids now who pay attention to what I do, so I have to be less of a pushover,” the actor said. “The other day – this is so silly – but Nina and my daughter and I were crossing the street (in Manhattan)…and a person on our side of the street asked for a picture, and I looked at my daughter and said, ‘No, I’m sorry.’ And then we crossed the street and I was like, “How did it go for you, Nina?” Was it okay? She said, “I’m so proud of you, mom.” And then we went to the coffee shop, and the barista at the coffee shop was like, “Can I have a picture?” And I was like, “No, I’ll come back later.” » My daughter says, “I’m so proud of you for saying no.” And I was like, “What the fuck?” She shouldn’t tell me that. I would have to say no.

Seyfried’s new rule is that if she’s with her kids, she won’t agree to take photos with her fans because “whatever they’re going through is more important than what I’m going through.”

Seyfried recently enjoyed one of the biggest hits of her career with “The Housemaid,” a winter blockbuster that grossed $400 million worldwide. She’s recently been making the festival rounds with her latest indie drama, “The Life and Death of Wilson Shedd,” and she plays Cinderella in the upcoming Netflix animated film “Steps.”
