Analogue unveils Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+, updated versions of its FPGA-powered SNES and Mega Drive consoles

Here’s something unexpected to end the week: Analogue has just announced refreshes of its FPGA-SNES and Mega Drive consoles, the Super Nt and Mega Sg, with pre-orders expected to start early next week.
The Super Nt was originally released in 2017 and was capable of playing your old SNES cartridges, while the Mega Sg was announced in 2018 and was designed to be a new way to play your Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games.
Both consoles were ultimately discontinued in 2022.
The Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+, as these new releases are called, will be available for pre-order starting Monday, October 19, 2026 at 8 a.m. PDT on Analogue’s website, and are expected to ship in December.
As revealed in the announcement, they will be built on “an FPGA architecture designed in-house from the ground up” and will come with new features such as “Bluetooth and 2.4G” capabilities, a “reworked industrial design, operating system and packaging.” On top of that, another of the major changes listed on the website is that both consoles will now have a USB-C power input and a USB-A port for “more convenient DAC support.”
“Introducing Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+,” Analogue’s Twitter/X announcement reads. “The definitive way to play the original Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Sega Genesis, Mega Drive and Master System.
“Since Super Nt in 2017, the originals have set a new standard in video game preservation. Nearly a decade later, they return. Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+. Definitive, again.”
