Zahara, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially dropped her famous father’s last name.
On Monday, a Los Angeles judge granted the 21-year-old’s request to legally change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
“There being no objections, the request for change of name is granted,” the September 28 order states.
“The decree is signed and filed,” the order continues. “Petitioner’s name changes from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie.”
Zahara’s attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely for Monday morning’s hearing, according to the filing.
Judge Virginia Keeny presided over the hearing at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles Superior Court.
After the name change, a source close to Pitt exclusively told Page Six, “This is the latest episode of what complete and utter alienation looks like, with one more attempt to distract from their ex’s success. Anyone who has actually been a part of this over the last ten years knows that there is only one side talking and trying to weaponize the kids.”
A second source close to the “Maleficent” star responded exclusively: “Today’s hearing was required by law and scheduled months ago by the Los Angeles court system. It’s a new low that her camp is developing a conspiracy theory, disavowing responsibility for her conduct and attacking her own child. Keep in mind that her daughter has had the grace to not discuss the details of her behavior in public.”
The decision comes more than two months after Page Six reported that Zahara and her brother Maddox had taken out newspaper ads announcing their respective petitions to legally remove “Pitt” from their last name.
The Spelman College graduate published notices about her proposed name change in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on June 16, June 23, June 30 and July 7.
The notices gave anyone opposed to the change the opportunity to submit a written objection before Monday’s hearing.
Zahara had already stopped using her father’s last name publicly before making the change official.
In May, she was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie as she walked across the stage to accept her diploma at Spelman College. She previously made headlines in November 2023 when she proudly introduced herself under the same name during her induction ceremony into Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
Zahara isn’t the only one of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to distance themselves from their father’s famous last name.
His older brother Maddox, 25, officially dropped “Pitt” from his last name earlier this month, citing personal reasons.
Meanwhile, their younger sister Shiloh, 20, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing a petition on her 18th birthday in May 2024.
Their sister Vivienne, 18, also took steps to legally drop “Pitt” from her name after using Vivienne Jolie in the poster for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” which she worked on alongside her mother.
Their twin brother, Knox, also removed his father’s last name from his high school diploma earlier this year.
Despite the family’s complicated dynamics, Page Six exclusively reported in June that their son Pax, 22, remained close to Pitt’s side, although a separate source said he had little contact with his father.
Jolie, 51, filed for divorce from Pitt, 62, in September 2016 after two years of marriage. The former couple were declared legally single in 2019 before finally settling their divorce in December 2024 after an eight-year legal battle.
