Anne Hathaway disappears as she completes a whirlwind year of 5 films
Anne Hathaway hilariously disappeared in a video marking the end of promotional events for five films she released this year.
In an Instagram video shared Friday, the Oscar winner explained that she was heading to the premiere of her thriller “Verity,” which opened the same day.
“‘Verity’ hits theaters Friday, October 2, and then October 3…” she says before dissipating in a fake puff of smoke.
A member of her team appears confused by Hathaway’s disappearance before the screen shows fake news featuring the “Disappearance” of the “Princess Diary” star.
One headline reads, “Anne Hathaway Simply Vanishes,” while another reads, “As Promised, Anne Hathaway Disappears in a Plume of Smoke.”
“Thank you everyone for your support and for making this an incredible and unforgettable year,” she wrote above the clip, captioning the post: “Again and again @verityfilm in theaters today!”
The gag comes after Hathaway, 43, told Entertainment Tonight last month that she was “going to disappear in a plume of smoke” after finishing her promotional duties on “Verity” — her final release in 2026 after “Mother Mary,” “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” “The Odyssey” and “The End of Oak Street.”
“And you won’t see me until you have to,” she joked, noting that she was “definitely going to take some time off” following the rigorous press circuit.
“I’m joining Tom on the runway in March,” she added, referring to her upcoming co-starring role with Tom Cruise in the recently announced “Days of Thunder” sequel.
Hathaway — who publicly announced she was expecting her third child in June — is already mom to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, whom she welcomed with husband Adam Shulman.
The Les Misérables actress joked that baby No. 3 is her “buzzer beater” during an interview on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” in July.
Hathaway admitted that she and her husband “knew what they were doing when they conceived” and that the pregnancy was planned, but were nonetheless “so shocked that it worked.”
