Anne Hathaway says she learned to ‘relax’ during her career and credits Rihanna for her inspiring motherhood style

Anne Hathaway reflects on how she has changed throughout her career after a busy year starring in five films.

Hathaway told “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King that she “had no idea” she would debut with five films this year, adding that she was worried it would be “a little” too much for people. Hathaway’s latest film, “Verity,” premieres Friday.

“It takes a lot of people to watch you for a long time, but then I thought, ‘What if it turns out better than you can imagine?'” Hathaway said.

Looking back on her career, Hathaway said she learned to “relax” and was “more open to having fun.”

“Really, it’s just about the feeling and the connection you have with other people. And I wish I had understood that earlier in my life, but I’m so grateful that I did,” Hathaway said.

Adopt your maternity style

Anna Hathaway has thanked Rihanna for inspiring her maternity looks during her back-to-back press tours, saying the music star “was a game changer.”

“When I saw what she was doing with her maternity style, I realized I needed to use my imagination and go out and have more fun,” Hathaway said.

Hathaway said she’s just weeks away from welcoming her third child with husband Adam Shulman.

“We’re excited. We’re excited. What we’re really focused on right now is just continuing to be a family of four, because everything is going to change for us, but it’s really going to change for our kids. We’re about to cross this beautiful threshold together,” Hathaway said.

His “scary and disturbing” role in “Verity”

Hathaway said collaboration was key while filming “Verity,” a psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel. Hathaway plays Verity Crawford, a renowned author incapacitated following an accident.

“When I knew that my work was going to remain very limited to the frame and that I wouldn’t have the ability to move and act and work with the audience, collaboration became paramount,” she said, adding that the small details of each scene became important.

Hathaway said they “jumped in with both feet and figured out how to make these shots scary and disturbing.”
