Another Critical Actor Joins the Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Cast as Shiva (But Not the Shiva You Think)

There was something new revelations regarding the Final Fantasy VII redo the voice casting of the project. Marisha Ray, known for her numerous performances on Critical rolejoined the team to voice Shiva…well, a version of Shiva anyway. Announced during New York Comic Con, Ray will play Polydroid Shiva, who appears to be a sort of digitized and NPC version of the summonable Shiva. You remember those Lego versions of Cloud, Barret and Tifa that you get by playing the Fort Condor mini-game in Renaissance? She looks like a Shiva version of that.

During the Final Fantasy VII Reveal During a panel at NYCC, Square Enix shared a clip in which Shiva chats at length with Vincent Valentine, who is voiced by Matt Mercer, who happens to be Ray’s real-life husband. Check it out.

It seems the folks at Gold Saucer commissioned this alternate version of Shiva to handle the amusement park’s snowboarding minigame, which suffered some sort of accident. Somehow, it falls to Vincent to make everything right, which leads to some juicy exchanges between the two. It’s nice that the narrative team found a way to have the real-life husband and wife team interact in this way. Judging by the clip, it looks like they’re having a great time.
