Apple is unable to meet demand for the iPhone Duo and there is no timetable for when the company will catch up, CEO John Ternus said. Reuters following today’s earnings report.
Duo is forced from today. The ramp is going well and we are working hard to get it to as many customers as quickly as possible, but at this point we are unable to predict when supply and demand will be in balance.
Ternus commented on display issues some customers are seeing, saying that “a very small percentage” of units have been returned and that Apple is offering replacements.
iPhone Duo orders placed today have delivery estimates in January and stores had limited stock for online reservations.
Last week, Apple said it was aware of an issue affecting the internal display of some units and asked customers experiencing an issue to contact AppleCare.
Apple reported record September quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% from last year. Duo sales are not included because the device did not go on sale until after the end of the quarter.
