Apple today added a new subscription retention feature for developers, allowing them to display retention messages when a subscriber wants to cancel.

retaining App Store subscriptions
Apple says retention messages will appear in the subscription cancellation flow and may include text, images, or a special offer. Retention messages can be added in App Store Connect for auto-renewable subscriptions, with options for subscriber eligibility and wait time between messages.

With a separate retention messaging API, developers can choose which messages to display to a subscriber based on their subscription details. Access to the API is on request.

Users in the ‌App Store‌ may see discount offers or reasons to keep a subscription before canceling it.
