President Trump touted his power during his second go-around at the White House on Saturday as he rallied in Kentucky to boost Republican turnout as his party struggles in the midterms, saying, “I can do amazing things.”

Mr. Trump, who spoke in the town of Highland Heights to promote Republican candidates including Ed Gallrein for the U.S. House of Representatives, reversed its decision to change how the U.S. government refers to the Gulf of Mexico by the Gulf of America.

“I don’t think I could have done that in my first term. It’s a much more powerful term,” Mr. Trump said. “Google wouldn’t have answered my call the first time. Now they’re kissing my ass.”

“Well, I also changed the name of a lake in Canada to Lake America,” he continued, referring to at Lake Ontario.

Mr. Trump’s self-proclaimed power clashes with voters’ frustration with the way he has exercised it, with prices And the war in Iran which drives up prices and more and more Americans see the president looking out for his own interests and not those of the country.

With control of both houses of Congress on the lineand with the prospects of Democratic-led investigations into his administration if he wins, Mr. Trump has put himself front and center for voters, even as Republicans privately fear he will be a liability.

Mr. Trump appointed one of his personal lawyers to serve as attorney general, ordered military strikes on boats accused of drug trafficking, tries to put his name on the Kennedy Centerand has got rich and his family while he was in office.

While addressing the issues on stage in Kentucky, Mr. Trump addressed the price of gas, saying the war with Iran would soon end — a claim he has made repeatedly during the nearly eight-month conflict — and that gas prices would fall lower than before. The crowd applauded.

Mr. Trump reiterated his dubious promise that if Republicans won the House and Senate, then every adult American would receive $5,000. It would most likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval, while also widening the nation’s annual budget deficit by nearly $1.8 trillion.

At Saturday’s rally, Mr. Trump added a new conditional promise for Kentucky; If Republicans win, he said, the Defense Department would invest in revitalizing a drug manufacturing plant in the state.
