Barbara Barrie has died aged 95 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, according to a report.

“To tell you the truth, the only reason I went there was because I had a boyfriend who lived there. We were supposed to get married, but we couldn’t do it right away,” she said. “Since I had gone to the trouble of moving to New York, I figured I might as well try acting.”

Barrie told the Westside Rag in 2024, she has been acting for 55 years and “I think it took 45 years to become a good actor. I think it takes that long. You take everything away. You take away all the junk. You take away all the egos. You take away all the temperament and you just deal with the person you’re playing. That’s all you have to do, but it takes years to learn that.”
