Barcelona 3-0 Getafe: Anthony Gordon scores Barca’s first goal as La Liga leaders remain perfect
Barcelona remains perfect to start the season and have won eight out of eight in La Liga thanks to a very comfortable 3-0 home victory against Getafe on Saturday evening. Anthony Gordon scored his first goal for the club just seconds into the action, sending the leaders through the 90 minutes and easily clinching all three points to kick off a run of key games with a solid home win.
The best thing to do against a defensive team like Getafe is to score early, and Barca found the net just 90 seconds into the action as Anthony Gordon received the ball on the edge of the box, dribbled past two defenders and fired a deflected shot into the net to open his account for Barca.
Getafe did not change their plan despite an early concession and sat very deep to avoid further damage, while Barca could afford to be patient, keep the ball and slowly but surely try to increase their lead. The Catalans had over 80% possession throughout the half and were still finding space and chances despite a parked bus.
The second goal came halfway when Gabriel Jesus collected the ball in the Getafe box and scored a very good solo goal to double the lead. Blaugrana leads, and the home team was completely in control. Getafe offered no threat at the break, even with two goals, and Barca were comfortably in the lead at the break.

The game was so easy for Barca that the home side came out a little flat at the start of the second half, allowing Getafe a few half-chances as the visitors tried to get back into the game with an early goal. A long effort from Mojica that hit the side-netting proved to be their best moment, but Getafe’s initial momentum quickly dissipated.
Barça regained control of the ball and the action slowed down considerably as the Blaugrana were clearly looking to save their energy for the big matches to come and not shift into second gear. The hosts nevertheless managed to create danger and found a third goal thanks to a superb cross from Lamine Yamal and a beautiful half-volley from Jules Koundé.
The final whistle brought an end to a very comfortable evening for a Barca side who really made things easy for themselves with an early goal and controlled the action from start to finish. It’s a good start to a crucial two weeks, and ensures the leaders remain five points clear at the top. Well done boys!
