Barry Keoghan Receives Skin-Tightening Cosmetic Treatment After Bullying
Barry Keoghan is making headlines for his appearance in a new social media video shared by UK celebrity facial expert and Dermaspa founder Nilam Holmes, who posted a behind-the-scenes look at the Oscar nominee’s Xerf treatment. According to the Dermaspa website, Xerf forgoes injections and uses radiofrequency technology to tighten skin and renew collagen. The treatment costs approximately $3,500 for a face and neck session.
“I’ve been working with Barry for a while now, taking care of his skin through different films, campaigns and projects and the trust he puts in me means a lot,” Holmes wrote in a caption accompanying the video. “His skin has really improved over the last few years and he looks great. Today we did his (second) skin tightening treatment with Xerf. I was late filming some Xerf content, so rather than rushing into what I was doing, he offered to let me film him doing it.”
Keoghan narrates the video saying, “I’ve heard a lot about it, and Nilam is very enthusiastic about it, and she’s great at what she does. I really mean it, and again, every time I come in, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. I feel better about myself; I look better. I think it’s important to take care of yourself inside and out.”
As seen on Holmes’ social media pages, her other clients who have undergone Xerf treatment include Chris Appleton, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Joe Alwyn and Nicole Scherzinger. She has also worked with Pink and Joe Alwyn and has regularly posted about Keoghan’s treatment in the past, giving him facials before various photo shoots.
“Working on multiple projects at once: films, campaigns, interviews, press and philanthropic projects means an unstructured routine, travel, makeup, and disrupted sleep habits, all of which take a toll on the skin,” Holmes said in March 2025 of Keoghan’s treatment for her Wonderland magazine cover. “So we have regular skin sessions which involve repairing problem skin, calming inflammation, maintaining the skin when it looks good and trying to get that healthy, rested look. On top of that, Barry is like a little student to me. Passionate about everything, he loves to know everything about everything I love and he brings fun during his visits.”
Earlier this year, Keoghan went viral for telling SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” that the online “abuse” regarding his appearance had gotten so bad that he didn’t want to “come out” anymore.
“There’s a lot of hate online,” Keoghan explained at the time. “There’s a lot of abuse about my appearance, and it’s a little past the point of… you know, everyone goes through it… but it made me run away. It made me really go into myself, not wanting to go places, not wanting to go out. I say that being absolutely pure and honest with you. It’s becoming a problem.”
Keoghan noted that he had removed himself from social media to avoid nasty comments about himself, but that occasionally, after a premiere or event, he would go online to see “how it was received.” Unfortunately, he says, most of the time the reaction is “not pleasant.”
