Bears vs. Hawks injury report: Caleb Williams is questionable
The Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons have released their game day injury reports, and there is some good news for both starting quarterbacks. Chicago’s Caleb Williams (hamstring) logged a third straight full practice, while Atlanta’s Michael Penix Jr. also practiced fully all week after leaving his last game with a rib injury.
However, the Bears list Williams as questionable, while Penix has no injury designations for Sunday’s game and is expected to start.
In his pre-practice press conference, head coach Ben Johnson did not specify whether Williams was a starter or not, and he said, “Hopefully we’ll have more clarity at the end of the day today. He (Williams) looked good yesterday for a practice, but we’ve got to be able to stack a few back to back.”
Assuming there have been no setbacks, and given the full training, Williams appears ready to start, but they will have a walkthrough tomorrow to ensure there are no lingering effects from the injury.
Corners Tyrique Stevenson (hip) and Kyler Gordon (calf), who are still on the PUP list, are also questionable for the Bears. Stevenson was limited all week, while Gordon was full. If Gordon is not activated for the Atlanta game, he will have to be activated next week, when his 21-day practice window expires.
The Bears ruled out linebackers TJ Edwards (hamstring) and Keyshaun Elliott (quadriceps), running back Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) and defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo (quadriceps),
Johnson also said there was a chance left tackle Ozzy Trapilo would make his season debut on Sunday, adding, “We think he’s really close.”
The Falcons have only two players on their injury report: starting cornerback CJ Henderson (groin) is out, and veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith (neck) is questionable and was limited in today’s practice.
