Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Reconnected for ‘Emotional Support’ Amid a ‘Difficult Period’ in Their Lives

Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck would find comfort in each other as they go through difficult times in their lives after their marriage ended.

The former lovebirds, who have a fairly on-and-off romantic history, are said to have resumed regular communication with each other and are in a more comfortable place in their relationship post-split.

Ben Affleck has recently faced painful losses in his life, and Jennifer Lopez is adjusting to some separation, putting the couple on a trajectory toward a familiar routine but without the pressures of a complicated marriage.

“Jen and Ben communicated regularly and provided each other with emotional support during a surprisingly difficult time in their lives,” a source told the outlet.

The source claimed that Lopez became “especially attentive” after Affleck lost both of her parents, while the actor, for his part, has been a reassuring presence as she strives to become an “empty nester.”

“Bennifer,” as the former couple was called, has been a topic of conversation for a long time as the two still find reasons to get closer despite multiple breakups at this point.

Despite their official divorce last year, their willingness to be there to comfort and support each other suggests that their bond has not broken down or turned into total alienation.

Affleck’s dependence on his ex-wife follows the devastating losses he and his family suffered in the span of a few months. On June 2, Affleck’s mother, Chris Anne Affleck, died a few months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She was given six months to live and died peacefully in her sleep two days after fulfilling her wish to see her grandson graduate from high school.

“Good Will Hunting” star Timothy Affleck’s father also died earlier this year, with Casey Affleck revealing the news while attending the Venice International Film Festival in September.

When asked how he was coping with their deaths, he responded, “Just the fact of the very fleeting nature of all of our lives stares you in the face. And you realize, yeah, we only have a limited amount of time.”

His grief appears to have brought him closer to Lopez, who has offered support to the actor as he faces his personal challenges.

“When they go away, and I’m sitting there like an empty nester, crying, thinking about them, looking at pictures of them and all that, those routines are what’s going to keep me somewhat sane,” she said.

Lopez admitted that it was a “scary time” for her, but that it was time to “revive some old dreams” that she had put off while raising the kids.

People reported that they canceled their planned wedding and separated in part because of intense media scrutiny of their relationship. They would reunite briefly before ending things again in 2004.

In 2021, they rekindled their relationship and eventually married in 2022 during what Lopez called the “best night ever.”

She later said that the annulment of her marriage to Affleck in 2003 was the “biggest heartbreak” she had experienced, suggesting the actor was her “true love”.

Reports of marital tension would begin to come in in 2024, and Lopez soon after filed for divorce, which would be finalized in January 2025.

Affleck preferring a private life would have contrasted with Lopez desiring the very public celebrity life. The two apparently couldn’t get on the same page when it came to publicity, which contributed to their split.

Lopez and Affleck’s “considerable mutual respect” would be important if they gave romance another chance, as “neither would want to repeat the same cycle of intense public excitement followed by disappointment and separation.”

“They would need to set much clearer boundaries around their private lives and decide whether their relationship expectations were truly compatible,” the source concluded.
