Bend police respond to reported ‘active shooter’ situation at Silver Rail Elementary School

BEND, Ore. (KATU) — Bend police are responding to reports of an active shooter situation at Silver Rail Elementary School.

A large police presence has gathered in the area. Residents are asked to avoid the area. The school was placed on lockdown following this incident.

A reunification location has been established at Journey Church, 61303 S Highway 97, near Goodwill and Dairy Queen, police officials said. Families of students are asked to attend.

Few details have been revealed at this time.

KATU News contacted the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office; a spokesperson said they would help resolve the incident.

Bend police say they will provide an update to media at 2:15 p.m.
