The state of Bill Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson came under scrutiny on Friday, October 30. But if the North Carolina football coach and his girlfriend are on the sidelines, two people within the UNC football office told USA TODAY Sports they aren’t aware of it.
The two people, including a senior official, spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.
An October 30 TMZ report states that Belichick, 74, and Hudson, 25, split over a year ago despite multiple appearances since the reported split.
According to TMZ, people close to Hudson say Belichick and Hudson are “committed to their business partnerships and remain close friends.”
Hudson has been noticeably absent from the Tar Heels news cycle this season, despite his dominance last year, and Belichick himself has been a bit more quiet in his second season in Chapel Hill.
However, Hudson was not completely excluded from the program. She has appeared on the sidelines of games this year, including against Notre Dame and East Tennessee State, and attended a high school game with Belichick in late September.
Hudson last posted a photo of Belichick on Instagram with them holding hands at Churchill Downs on May 2.
A source told TMZ that Hudson “started seeing other people.”
It’s been a season of upheaval in Chapel Hill as UNC general manager and longtime Belichick confidant Michael Lombardi resigned amid an internal investigation in September and Belichick’s son Steve announced his resignation as defensive coordinator two weeks later while on medical leave.
The Tar Heels are 4-3 in Belichick’s second season at the helm, after an unimpressive 4-8 debut season.
How did Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson meet?
Belichick and Hudson first met in 2021 on a flight, although that question is apparently a bit tricky. In an interview last year, Hudson interjected when Belichick was asked how the two met, abruptly saying “not to talk about that” before moving on.
How long have Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson dated?
The two went public in 2024, although they are believed to be together in 2022 or 2023.
Jordon Hudson’s UNC sideline appearances
Perhaps one of the most disconcerting things about this report is that, despite being more discreet, Hudson is still very much a presence in the program. She was on the sideline during the Oct. 3 loss to Notre Dame, and she was there for UNC’s home opener against East Tennessee State.
