Chilling body camera footage reveals two South Carolina toddlers were apparently fine just weeks before they were found starved to death in their home.

Their mother, Justine May, 31, was arrested on September 29 and charged with homicide following the tragic deaths of Harlow Deacon, 15 months, and Emory Deacon, 2, according to the Daily Mail.

“How can I help you?” the accused killer asked police as they arrived at his door on August 30, adding, “No one can come in.”

When the officers asked her to leave, she became frustrated and asked why.

The cops asked May if she heard voices or was planning to harm anyone.

She dodged questions and instead blamed her ex-fiancé, claiming he was lying about having a mental health episode.

When police pressed for details, May said dryly: “I don’t want to say it. »

“The police know that. I don’t do that at all. I don’t say that around me at all.”

Holding one of her children, May called her ex and his mother “crazy” for constantly calling police to check on her, video shows.

The welfare check arrived after no one — including the children’s father, Zack Deacon — had seen the children in a week.

At the scene, a social worker warned May that her “mental health had apparently deteriorated” following her separation from Deacon.

May denied it, accusing Deacon of “erratic behavior” when he stopped by the house.

In the images, the house looked orderly and clean.

Yet the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office detected no apparent danger during 13 welfare checks at the home that led to the children’s deaths, despite the mother’s horrific neglect, according to the Daily Mail.

No welfare checks were conducted after September 20, just under a week before the children’s bodies were found inside the home.

“The decision was made by the duty supervisor to discontinue additional welfare checks based on the totality of information available at that time, including previous contacts, the involvement of DSS and Mobile Crisis, and the absence of new actionable information indicating an immediate threat to Ms. May or her children,” Sheriff Carl Ritchie said in a statement to the Daily Mail.

May reportedly told police she had been in a “blur” for weeks and couldn’t remember the last time she fed her children.

The sheriff’s office is now retroactively reviewing body camera footage to determine the girls’ health conditions in the days before their deaths.

Zack Deacon has retained legal counsel to investigate police conduct and potential incompetence.

“Emory and Harlow deserve the truth,” attorney Gedney Howe wrote in a statement to the Daily Mail.

“Their father deserves to see the file, not learn about it on the news.”
