Bradley Whitford on the return of ‘The West Wing’
Bradley Whitford is ready to return to the White House.
The actor tells me it might be time to bring back “The West Wing” as a “limited series.”
Series creator Aaron Sorkin has had fans chomping at the bit since he said it VarietyMichael Schneider, he was inspired to write more episodes while attending a 25th show’s White House anniversary in 2024. “I just had some ideas for episodes while walking around the White House,” Sorkin said at the time. “Like, ‘Why have we never done this? Why have we never done that?'”
Whitford inspired a “West Wing” reunion earlier in the day when fellow castmates Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Mary McCormack and Josh Malina joined him at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I’m going to work him, I’m going to work him,” Whitford said of trying to get Sorkin to commit.
Hill said the cast wouldn’t hesitate if Sorkin decided to write a new season. “I always say that’s a question for Aaron Sorkin,” he said when asked about a revival. “If he writes it, then I’ll come. I think if he writes it, then we’ll all be there.”
However, Hill continued: “Sometimes I wonder where things are in the world. Things are so weird, I don’t know how you dramatize it all. With him, it would be a beautiful thing to hope to bring the collective consciousness of our society back toward humanity and connectivity and understanding.”
“The West Wing” premiered on NBC in 1999 and ran for seven seasons before ending in 2006. The ensemble also included Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, John Spencer, Janel Moloney and Stockard Channing.
The series has won 27 Emmy Awards out of 95 nominations.
