A flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv carrying more than 150 passengers briefly transmitted a code indicating a hijacking, descended to a suspicious altitude and diverted to Saudi Arabia, according to a preliminary report. Two Israeli Air Force fighter jets took off. Following this report, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz convene an urgent consultation on security. A security source stressed that “there is no confirmed information about a hijacking, the pilot activated a distress signal.”
