Brendan Carr’s ABC License Fight Meets Skeptical Judge
A federal judge was skeptical Tuesday of the Federal Communications Commission’s attempts to snatch up ABC’s eight broadcast licenses for an unprecedented early review.
U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan of Washington, D.C., appears to agree with ABC’s assertions that its court could intervene in the FCC’s order revoking the eight licenses years earlier than expected. Ali Khan also questioned the FCC’s assertion that the review is related to discovery litigation in a discrimination investigation involving ABC’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
The hearing marks the latest skirmish in the legal battle between the Asset administration and Disney-owned ABC after the agency ordered an early review of its eight broadcast licenses.
“It strikes me with all the comments we have from the president and the commissioner Brendan Carr that this is simply a discovery dispute,” Ali Khan » declared during the hearing.
