Brewers honor Bob Uecker in World Series parade: Watch the tributes
October 30, 2026, 5:41 p.m. ET
A giant mural of Bob Uecker dominated East Mason Street Friday as the Milwaukee Brewers stopped their World Series championship parade to pay tribute to him.
The buses stopped at the corner of Mason and Jackson and stayed for about 10 minutes. Players came down, hoisted the World Series trophy toward the mural and slapped fans’ hands as blue and gold confetti fell. The crowd chanted “Ueck! »
Uecker called Brewers games for 54 seasons. He died in January 2025 at age 90, 21 months before the franchise won its first World Series. On Friday, the Brewers made sure his legacy and family were part of the team’s first World Series championship celebration.
The Uecker family led the celebration.
Manager Pat Murphy pointed his finger at the wall. Fans responded, “Thanks, Murph.”
Players posed for selfies with the Uecker mural behind them. Some of them, FOX6 Milwaukee reported, referenced Miller Lite, the beer Uecker sold for decades in commercials.
Mauricio Ramirez completed the portrait in June at Wintrust Financial Center. It was paid for by the building’s owners, Milwaukee Downtown and Visit Milwaukee.
“Bob loved Milwaukee and greatly appreciated the connection he had with the city,” Bob Uecker Jr. said in May, when the painting began to be installed.
Municipal authorities expected around 400,000 people in the city center. Many of them ended up at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater for the rally, where Uecker returned.
Ryan Braun, the 2011 National League MVP, got the spot by chanting “Ueck.”
Robin Yount came out last, riding Uecker’s Harley Davidson on stage.
He had done something like that a week earlier. Before the first game, Yount walked to the mound in one of Uecker’s plaid sport coats and took it off to show a “Ueck” jersey underneath. In the radio booth, Lane Grindle, Jeff Levering, Josh Maurer and engineer Kent Sommerfeld all wore blazers from Uecker’s closet.
“We should celebrate forever,” Christian Yelich told the crowd Friday.
You closed it.
“God bless you, Bob Uecker.”
