Comments Off on Broadcom to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion to lease chips

Reuters, which got its hands on Anthropic’s IPO prospectus, reports that the AI giant’s most notable partnership is with Broadcom (AVGO).

“The company’s relationship with Anthropic spans hardware supply, equipment rental and financing, giving the semiconductor company a central role in building Anthropic’s infrastructure,” Reuters reports. “This differentiates it from other major partners and investors such as Amazon, which primarily provide cloud infrastructure and distribution for Anthropic’s Claude model.”

The relationship with Broadcom represents up to $42 billion in loans to Anthropic to fund infrastructure spending as the company grows, while Anthropic becomes Broadcom’s largest chip design customer.

“It seems like there’s a pretty concentrated bet right now on whether two companies will be able to generate enough revenue to support all the financings that have taken place,” Robert Leitao, managing partner of Rothschild & Co., told Reuters.
