Monday Morning Pit-Stop is a weekly NASCAR column broadcast on OutKick.com and Fox News Digital. If you’re looking for a normal NASCAR recap, go watch the insufferable ESPN… assuming they still know NASCAR exists. Stop the presses! We got a good result in NASCAR in what feels like the first time in forever.

Damn, did NASCAR need that, huh? It’s been a tough few months in terms of racing. It feels like we’re in a rut, and going from summer to fall doesn’t help.

NASCAR owns Sundays during the summer. There is no real competition in terms of network television. But once Labor Day rolls around and football takes over, it’s hard to stay relevant.

Some weeks they get lucky and a big fight breaks out after a race. Other weeks, an entire crew attacks a driver near a hot dog stand and beats him up.

And then there are certain Sundays where we get a good result on the track. It was yesterday in Charlotte. Well done, Chase Briscoe.

We’ll come back to that here in a moment.

What else? I also have Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman getting into a violent accident. during the race itself, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Michael McDowell make one After that, Hooters making a DISGUSTING decision at Daytona, and Kyle Busch’s live celebration Friday night was quite a scene.

What if Brexton Busch also addressed this burnout? Stud. You will see.

Four tires, enough fuel to get us through these last four races, and maybe a bag of ice for Bubba and Alex today… Monday Morning Pit-Stop — the ‘Buzzer Beater In Charlotte’ edition — is LIVE!

NASCAR makes history in Charlotte

There it is – it second the closest finish at Charlotte in NASCAR history. Not bad for a terrible Next Gen car that makes overtaking almost impossible!

Chase Briscoe, who waited 19 weeks to win his first race of the season in July, has now won back-to-back races to cut Kyle Larson’s championship lead to 65 with four races remaining.

He did it yesterday by edging out teammate Christopher Bell at the very last second, making it Charlotte’s closest finish since…

Any guesses? Any takers? Nothing?!

Buller ??

Since Jimmie Johnson beat Bobby Labonte (!!!) at the 2005 Coca-Cola 600!

NASCAR’S WEEKEND THROWBACK INCLUDES A SHOCKING NOD TO RELIGION, AN EMOTIONAL BREXTON BUSCH VICTORY AND FIGHTING WORDS?

Look at this race. Man, we had it so good back then, and we blew it. Look at these cars! Listen to these announcers.

It was the pinnacle of NASCAR, at least for me. I can’t believe it’s been 21 years. And somehow Jimmie is always races. Not full-time, of course, but he’s already committed to next year’s Daytona 500.

Amazing.

Anyway, let’s get back to the year 2026 and stay on track…

Once again, NASCAR necessary which ended yesterday. The racing in this Chase has stunk so far. The plots have been… pretty bland. Beyond a few fights, there just wasn’t any juice. Eliminate the elimination Besides, a race every three weeks will do the trick. But you’re not all ready for this conversation yet.

But yesterday the series had a nice, solid rebound. Charlotte gave us some decent races and a finish that was worth the wait.

No complaints here.

Bubba and Bowman need Tylenol after this blow

For those wondering, Kyle Larson finished sixth to maintain a pretty decent points lead (49) over Denny Hamlin with four races remaining.

And Also for those wondering how dominant Larson has been during these playoffs…yesterday’s sixth place finish was his worst of any Chase race. That’s correct.

His finishes, starting with Darlington on Labor Day Sunday: 5,1,2,1,2,6.

Not bad! It will work.

By the way, we have four races left in this 2026 season, and they are four of the best tracks on the calendar.

  1. Phoenix
  2. ‘Déga
  3. Martinville
  4. Property

I think we are going to experience a great finale. I can feel it in my weight. Stay tuned.

Speaking of feeling things in your gut, let’s go ahead and check in on Alex Bowman and Bubba Wallace after yesterday’s surprisingly violent wreck:

No chill and happy (sad) trails, Daytona Hooters!

Lord. You become immune to these hits when you’ve been doing this as long as I have, but this wreck caught even me off guard. I didn’t see it coming, and neither did Bubba.

Bowman, for what it’s worth, took full responsibility for the wreck…the only way he could.

“I overcorrected and did the right thing,” he said.

Very good, Alex! Thanks for recognizing it.

OK, let’s put the pedal to the metal and take a few quickies on the way to Phoenix. First of all ? Let’s go from a violent accident during the race to a not so violent but much funnier wreck after the race!

Amazing. No idea what deal Ricky Stenhouse Jr. or Michael McDowell made, but which two random drivers are fighting over.

I do agree with the broadcasters on one thing though…Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is probably a driver I would avoid in this garage. It’s kind of crazy. He has crazy eyes. Remember the Kyle Busch fight a few years ago?

Psycho. Go for it, McDowell!

Following? Speaking of Kyle Busch, NASCAR had its official celebration of life in Charlotte Friday night, with Brexton Busch driving Kyle’s No. 8 Chevrolet and giving the crowd the most stressful burnout ever.

He succeeded:

Yeah, it just feels like we’re just a few years away from seeing Brexton in NASCAR – on some level. For those wondering, you can start racing in the Truck Series at just 16 years old. He is 11 years old at the moment. My calculator tells me that means we should be shooting around 2030.

I can’t wait.

Okay, that’s all I have for today. Good race. Fun finish. The last four races of the season on deck.

As we head out, let’s pay homage to America’s greatest Hooters – the one right across the street from Daytona International Speedway.

Sadly, this majestic palace closed its doors last week for the final time, which should show you just how broken we are as a society right now. Disgusting behavior. I can’t believe it’s gone.

We deserve better.

Farewell, ladies.
