Caitlin Clark Revealed as College GameDay Guest Selector for OSU-Iowa Following Fever’s WNBA Playoff Exit
Indiana Fever star guard (and former Iowa Hawkeye) Caitlin Clark will College Game Day guest picker Saturday when ESPN’s college football pregame show comes to Iowa City for No. 14 Iowa’s home game against No. 5 Ohio State.
Clark, of course, became a superstar at Iowa, leading the Hawkeyes to back-to-back national championship appearances. She is a three-time first-team Associated Press All-American (2022-2024) and a two-time consensus national player of the year (2023-2024).
Clark also left town with a slew of records. It should be noted that she is the all-time leading scorer in Division I (men’s or women’s) with 3,951 points.
She just finished her third season with the Fever, who went 28-16 but fell in the first round of the playoffs to the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces. Clark had her best season as a professional, averaging 22.3 points (third in the WNBA) and 8.3 assists (second).
College Game Day is in Iowa City for the first time since 2006, when Iowa hosted Ohio State, then the No. 1 team in the nation. OSU won that game 38-17, but Iowa is obviously hoping for a different outcome.
The 4-0 Hawkeyes come into this game having beaten Michigan on the road, 20-19, with a game-ending 16-yard touchdown run from quarterback Hank Brown to wide receiver Reece Vander Zee.
So ESPN is in town for a big event. Clark (and the rest of the GameDay team) will make their picks just before the show closes at noon ET. Kickoff at Kinnick Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
