Call Of Duty commentator quits league after revealing he was dating co-commentator’s ex-wife
Sometimes something happens in the real world that reminds you that absurdist soap operas and sitcoms aren’t as outrageous as they seem. Call of Duty fans are seeing it firsthand, as longtime competitive commentator Clint “Maven” Evans announced his retirement from the scene after it was revealed that he is now dating his longtime partner Joseph “MerK” DeLuca’s ex-wife, Maurisa.
Evans confirmed his intention to leave Call of Duty shouting “for the foreseeable future” in a Twitter message (thanks, Dexerto), admitting that the relationship was “unconventional/taboo”, but saying that he was friends with the family long before DeLuca’s divorce, and that now it has evolved into something “more” and the two are now a couple.
I will be stepping away from CDL for the foreseeable future.
As some of you know, I was very close with my casting partner Joe and his family. Maurisa was one of my best friends. We remained friends after their divorce, and along the way it became more than that and we started…

Evan’s post does not specify whether the official asked him to leave. Call of Duty League or if he left of his own volition, but he asks fans to continue to support the organization and DeLuca. He hints that he might be open to returning to the stage in the future, but also says that might not happen.
This is all strange in itself, but internet sleuths who paid attention to DeLuca and Evans’ work together found some downright crazy online interactions and times when they commented together.

DeLuca does not appear to have commented publicly on the matter, although his social media accounts like Instagram And Twitter have been inundated with both supportive comments and also the kind of rancid internet jokes you’d probably expect.
