Capcom knows its Resident Evil remakes will eventually catch up to newer games, but has a plan for when that happens
Capcom has a plan for when the rollout of Resident Evil remakes finally catches up with newer games in the series and considers Resident Evil 7 a “turning point.”
That’s according to Jun Takeuchi, a Capcom veteran who served as executive producer of the series for the past decade, who acknowledged the fact that Capcom’s wildly popular remakes are slowly running out of classic games to re-release. The publisher has already remade Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 to great success, with a new version of Code Veronica planned for next year.
It was previously reported that a Resident Evil 0 remake would follow in 2028, and that a Resident Evil 1 remake had also been considered. Of the mainline Resident Evil games, that would then simply leave Resident Evil 5 and 6 as the only remaining titles to get new releases – both of which would be interesting prospects, for separate reasons.
