CD Projekt Red details new Cyberpunk 2077 update – adding dual-use cross-platform mods, Edgerunners story quests, and more
CD Projekt Red has detailed the substantial update coming to Cyberpunk 2077, revealing a new dual-wielding skill for pistols and revolvers, cyberware customization, cross-platform mod support, and an all-new Edgerunners-related story quest featuring voice actors from the Netflix animated show.
The update arrives on October 22 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, with the Switch 2 version following “in a few days,” CDPR media manager Laura Beitzel said during a RedStream this afternoon.
Actual details on the new Edgerunners-related story quest were intentionally thin, but Cyberpunk 2 associate game director Pawel Sasko said it was written with people involved with the Netflix series and CDPR publishing producer Natlia Pych. It would be a prequel to Edgerunners 2. “This will be the final work of the King’s team,” Pych said, and it will allow us to meet characters from the team: Emily, Meshuga and Miguel.

There will also be a new Edgerunners radio station added to Cyberpunk 2077, which contains 16 tracks made up of songs from Edgerunners 1 and 2, Sasko said.
Another new quest type coming in the update is Night City Tours, which is a less action-oriented quest – the word “cozy” was thrown around. Night City’s founder, Richard Night, tells you about the city’s lore as things happen around him that don’t really seem to add up. It’s a mystery that you must solve. Minor arcana from tarot are also added to the deck which you can find, in conjunction with a real physical deck of cards released for sale.
Cross-platform mod support in Cyberpunk 2077 follows the addition of cross-platform mod support to the Remastered Update for The Witcher 3, and it works very similarly. It’s also a partnership with mod platform Mod.io, and there’s a panel in the game where you can browse mods – “including adult mods,” Sasko said with a smile – and download and install them. And it’s a work in progress: more mods will be added over time.
Implantable cyberware becomes customizable by adding new “glam docs” to the game alongside – sometimes literally – the ripper documents you already find there. There are five new glam docs scattered around the city, each with their own store space and each featuring bespoke visual enhancements. This allows you to color your implants as you wish.
Aside from that, there are a “ton” of new optimizations coming to the game, including finally a field of view slider, proper DLSS 4.5 support, and metal frame interpolation and denoising on Mac, whatever it was – it seemed like a big deal.
