DALLAS — Macklin Celebrini was not injured during warmups.
Celebrini was expected to play for the San Jose Sharks against the Dallas Stars on Monday night, after participating in morning skates and road races. But then he left early at the end of the warmup and was a late scratch with a lower-body injury.
“It didn’t happen in warmups,” head coach Ryan Warsofsky said Tuesday. “It’s something we’ve tried to deal with a little bit here.”
Warsofsky spoke after San Jose Sharks practice Tuesday. Celebrini did not participate.
So when was Celebrini injured?
“I’m not really sure, to be honest with you,” Warsofsky said.
When pressed, he declined to say how long the San Jose Sharks have been dealing with Celebrini’s injury. Celebrini hasn’t missed a practice in training camp or so far this season, until today.
Good news, Celebrini is considered day to day with a lower body injury.
“Still being evaluated,” Warsofsky said. “I put it in that everyday category.”
Celebrini was seen walking around training on Tuesday, showing no obvious signs of injury.
The superstar center, however, was not seen skating, before or after practice.
“It’s still being evaluated,” Warsofsky said. “He’s with us on the journey. He’ll stay with us throughout the journey, and we’ll go from there.”
The San Jose Sharks are scheduled to practice in St. Louis on Wednesday at noon CT.
Their next game is against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
“We don’t know if Mack is there or not,” Will Smith said.
