CFB playoff picture, standings and predictions after Week 6 of the 2026-27 season
Oklahoma’s last-second field goal brought Texas back from the ranks of the undefeated.
The Longhorns haven’t been perfect during their reign as the best team in the country.
After all, they needed a fourth-quarter comeback effort to beat Ohio State and a strong defensive performance to hold off Tennessee.
Texas is far from perfect, but it still has plenty of talent on its roster to bounce back from Saturday’s loss.
Recovery won’t be easy, however, as Texas faces five Top 25 teams over the next five weeks.
That could change if the Florida Gators drop Sunday’s rankings, but it remains one of the toughest stretches any team will face this season.
Texas might find its way back to No. 1 at some point, but for now it just needs to win game by game to stay alive in the postseason.
