Chad Lowe’s daughter, Fiona, has died. She was 13 years old.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving, intelligent, creative young girl and loved to dance,” her family shared in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“She was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating to our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
The statement concluded: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
Lowe shared Fiona with his wife, producer Kim Painter. The two are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
The actor, 58, last posted about Fiona on Instagram in November 2025, in honor of her birthday.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teenager today!!” he wrote alongside a photo of her smiling and wearing cowboy boots. “Keep dancing your way through life FiBear! I love you so much!!”
In February 2025, Lowe shared photos of her daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home in Los Angeles, which was completely destroyed in the Palisades Fire.
In one of the photos, his three daughters are hugging each other.
“The way they handled this devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” he wrote. “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them through these difficult times is my only goal. Being their father is the greatest joy and privilege of my life.”
The actor opened up about being a girl dad on the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast in August 2024, once again calling it a privilege.
“It takes what I know intellectually about women and all the equality and the glass ceiling that exists, and how misogynistic the world is in many ways…and it put that in my heart, because I have three daughters,” he said. “And so I look at the world, really, from their point of view.”
But he stressed that not everything was “pessimistic” and that society was changing.
“So I see how we are really realizing the role of women,” he said.
Lowe – who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe – and Painter have been married since August 2010.
He was previously married to Hilary Swank, but they separated in January 2006 after eight years of marriage.
