Chappell Roan pairs pumps and socks at West Hollywood Abbey

Saturday night at the Abbey in West Hollywood, Chappell Roan made an appearance to show his support for the second annual National PrEP Day celebration. Roan is certainly no stranger to bold fashion choices, as evidenced by her look for the evening. She was fashionable all the way down, sporting a pair of shiny black pumps worn with knee-high latex socks.

Roan opted for a striking wardrobe choice when setting foot in the historic Los Angeles gay bar. She came wearing a Vex Latex x Christian Cowan strapless latex mini dress. The outfit featured burgundy and mustard yellow horizontal stripes and was paired with shoulder-length gloves in a matching pattern.

Roan’s socks were the same shade of burgundy and paired well with her equally shiny black pumps with a pointed heel. Her normal mass of curly red hair was straightened for the night and she added an extra touch of flash with a bit of light blue eyeshadow. Overall, the look was par for the course for Roan, who is well known for her penchant for eye-catching clothing.

Socks and pumps are currently trending in the fashion world. The jumpsuit was seen at Copenhagen Fashion Week last August and resurfaced in September at London Fashion Week. The look is often a form of power conflict, with boldly patterned shoes often paired with equally bright socks to create a showy wardrobe choice. Even though Roan avoided power struggles that evening, sticking to solid-colored socks, she still stood out with her shiny latex ensemble.

National PrEP Day was founded by telehealth platform MISTR in 2025. The day aims to both raise awareness and celebrate the titular breakthrough drug for HIV prevention. PrEP, which stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, helps prevent HIV infection after a person is exposed to the virus. Roan wasn’t the only celebrity to show up to support the celebration. Other attendees included Emily Ratajkowski, Charli XCX, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato.
