Charlie Sheen and his father Martin Sheen are back as father and son for the first time in over a decade.
The duo is headlining Happy Jacka comedy series for AMC and AMC+.
The half-hour family comedy has been greenlit for six episodes and will begin production at Warner Bros. Studios, where Friends was filmed, for launch in 2027.
The series comes from Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who have worked together on shows such as Two and a half men And The Ranch. The duo will write, produce and serve as showrunners. It is produced by AMC Studios.
This marks an interesting move for AMC, which hasn’t really been in the comedy business and certainly not in the half-hour business. THE Break the bad the broadcaster aired series such as Kevin can fuck himself And Lucky Hank, but they were more in the realm of dramatic comedy.
Happy Jack stars Charlie Sheen as Jack, a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well. He has two awesome daughters, although his father, played by Martin Sheen, deserves more credit for their development. Kate runs Jack’s business and keeps him on track while Sam is a wild child who is more like his father. When Sam comes home to introduce everyone to his new boyfriend, Jack is shocked to learn that Paul, a former investment banker turned van-living guru, is the same age as him. Shocked at first, Jack quickly realizes that he has a choice to make. Will he continue to chase number one or take this last chance to truly be a part of his daughters’ lives?
The couple has played father and son on screen in numerous films and series, most recently in Anger management, the multi-camera sitcom created on FX in 2012, and most famous in Wall Street.
Charlie Sheen will also executive produce alongside Todd Christopher, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang with 20th Television serving as executive producer.
