Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton dislocated ankle
Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton dislocated his left ankle during Sunday’s win over the Raiders, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports. Team doctors put the ankle back into place.
Thornton will undergo an MRI and receive a second opinion on Monday.
“It doesn’t look good” said Chiefs coach Andy Reid, via SBNation’s Jared Sapp. “He’s going to come back with us and we’ll have a more in-depth evaluation later.”
Thornton didn’t seem to realize his ankle was injured until he tried to get up after a 55-yard catch. He finished with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
“It’s a tough situation,” Reid said, “especially a guy like Tyquan (who is) a great father, a great husband and all that. Just his attitude. His attitude is unbelievable. He’s great for the team and kind of a leader for this group. For this to happen, especially with the year he’s having – he’s had a phenomenal year so far – and with good play on top of that, it’s hard to see for all the guys.”
