Christian Watson coughed up blood, broke a rib, went to the hospital and returned to the game
Packers wide receiver Christian Watson left Lambeau Field in an ambulance Thursday night after breaking a rib and coughing up blood, but then returned to the field and said after the game that he never doubted his ability to play until the end.
“I was coughing up blood or something, so the doctor told me I needed to get a CT scan,” Watson said. “I was trying to beg him not to make me do that. I had one rib, that’s all, but the rest was fine. No internal bleeding, nothing like that.”
Watson said he would still play through pain if he could.
“Before I even left, I wanted to go back,” Watson said. “It means everything to me, being on the football field. I’ve had some injuries where I haven’t been able to get on the field, and I’ve missed a lot of time with injuries, so any time I get an opportunity to go on the football field, I’ll be out there on the football field.”
Watson finished the game with eight catches for 113 yards: six catches for 100 yards before going to the hospital and two catches for 13 yards after returning from the hospital.
Watson said his philosophy is simple: “If you can get up, you should get up.” »
