Cindy Crawford and family break silence on Presley Gerber’s death: ‘We love you forever’
Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia have broken their silence for the first time since Death of Presley Gerber last month.
“We are heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother. We feel so lucky to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a gentle and beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever,” the family said in a statement shared on social media. “We are so proud of the way he showed himself in the world, with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many people who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Until we meet our sweet boy again. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
Presley Gerber died on September 20 at a Santa Monica rehabilitation center at the age of 27. The cause of his death remains postponed, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s website. But Santa Monica police said his death was a suspected overdose. He often spoke openly about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health on his social media.
Until Sunday, no member of Presley Gerber’s family had spoken publicly about his death. Her parents, model Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, shared the same message on their Instagram accounts, while her younger sister, actress and model Kaia Gerber, shared hers.
“I love you with all my heart, to the moon and over and over again, big brother forever,” the caption reads.
Her post also pays tribute to Presley Gerber, recounting their childhood experiences and how she struggles with a feeling of emptiness since his death.
“To say that loving you was the easiest thing in the world would imply that it took any amount of effort. I was born loving you. I will die loving you. There was never anything else,” Kaia’s message read. “I’m learning to love you when I can’t see you. How to tell you something without picking up my phone to call you. How to be your sister in a world where I can’t reach you.”
