Cindy Crawford Breaks Silence on Son Presley Gerber’s Death: ‘Until We Find Our Sweet Boy’
Cindy Crawford pays tribute to her son Presley Gerber who died in September.
For the first time since Gerber’s death, Crawford addressed the tragedy in an emotional Instagram post shared on October 18. The mother-of-two wrote that the family was “heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother.”
“We feel so lucky to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet and beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever,” she wrote in the Instagram post. “We are very proud of the way he showed himself in the world, with kindness and vulnerability.”
Presley Gerber, a model himself, is one of two children Crawford shares with her husband, businessman Rande Gerber. The couple have a younger daughter, 25-year-old model and actress Kaia Gerber.
Presley Gerber died Sept. 20 at a rehabilitation center, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner. Records show the cause of death is under further investigation. No further details were provided.
In his message, Crawford thanked those who showed support to the family during this difficult time.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many people who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain,” she wrote.
The former model and actor concluded the post with a sweet message to her late son.
“Until we found our sweet boy,” Crawford wrote. “We love you forever, mom, dad and Kaia 🪽”
Kaia Gerber also posted a sweet tribute to her brother on Instagram the same day. In her post, Kaia Gerber wrote to “prez” about “how much I loved being your sister.”
“This has always been and always will be my favorite thing about myself. I came into the world with a white fist around you,” Kaia Gerber wrote in a long open letter to her brother. “I had more love for you than I knew what to do with. and now that it has nowhere to go, I’m sure it’s going to swallow me whole.”
In the Instagram post, she also shared a sweet throwback video of the siblings when they were kids, kissing and dancing together, as well as some old photos.
“I’m learning to love you when I can’t see you. How do I tell you something without picking up my phone to call you,” Kaia Gerber wrote in the heartbreaking message. “How to be your sister in a world where I can’t reach you. I don’t know how to do that yet.”
Kaia Gerber also appears to have referenced physicist Richard Feynman’s famous letter to his late wife.
“My darling brother, I adore you,” Kaia Gerber wrote. “I love my brother. My brother is dead. And this party is so lame without you, prez.”
Hours before authorities found him unresponsive, Presley Gerber had checked himself into the Resolutions Living rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, a law enforcement source told NBC News.
His death is being investigated as a suspected overdose, police said.
Gerber has spoken openly about her struggles with depression and addiction in the past. In June, just months before his death, Gerber participated in a panel discussion on mental health, according to People magazine. This would be his last public appearance.
“The freest moment I felt was when I finally was honest with myself,” he told the audience.
