Citi AAdvantage Executive Adds $200 In-Kind Dining Credit

Citi offers the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Legend Mastercard® (see rates and fees) a new benefit you can sink your teeth into.

Starting October 25, primary cardholders will receive up to $200 in annual dining credits through inKind. Primary cardholders and authorized users can take advantage of the benefit, but the $200 credit is shared across the entire account.

Unlike many credit card dining benefits that are distributed in monthly installments, the in-kind credit is divided into two allocations of up to $100: one from January through June and another from July through December of each calendar year. This gives cardholders more flexibility to use each credit toward a substantial meal rather than following smaller monthly amounts.

The good news is that because this credit takes effect immediately, existing cardholders will have just over two months to use their first $100 dining credit before the end of 2026. The next $100 allocation will be available on January 1, 2027.

How does the new restaurant credit work?

InKind is an app-based payments and rewards platform with over 10,000 participating restaurants, bars and cafes across the United States. Users can search for participating locations and pay their check through the app.

New credits are redeemed directly through inKind, so you’ll see the savings at checkout rather than waiting for a credit on your statement weeks later.

Cardholders will need to add their AAdvantage Executive card to their inKind account to access the credits. To receive this benefit, Primary Cardholders dine at a participating restaurant and use the credit when paying their check through the inKind app. Credits cannot be applied to tips, fees or service charges, so these costs and any remaining balance will be charged to the AAdvantage Executive card on file.

Before factoring the full $200 into the card’s value, it’s worth checking the inKind app for participating restaurants near you or in locations you frequently travel to. After all, a meal credit is only valuable if you can actually use it.

The semi-annual structure is also much more forgiving than a monthly use-it-or-lose-it credit. Any unused portion also remains available for use in another transaction until the balance is reset at the end of June or December.

InKind also offers its own rewards program where customers can earn up to 20% back on eligible spend, but this new collaboration is a standalone benefit. You cannot combine Citi Dining Credit with existing inKind Cash on the same transaction. However, eligible spend beyond the credit amount can still earn in-kind cash back at participating restaurants.

“Catering is at the heart of how we see our cardholders engage,” Courtney Joseph, head of rewards products and premium customer experience at Citi, told TPG. He said Citi sees dining access and experiences as a natural complement to the Executive Card’s travel benefits, part of a broader effort to provide more value beyond airline-specific benefits.

Currently, this benefit is only available on the Citi/AAdvantage Executive card. Joseph said the credit would be a “permanent part of the value proposition” for Executive cardholders rather than a limited-time promotion. Citi hopes to expand the inKind collaboration to other cards and is considering ways to expand the collaboration, although it has not announced details on additional benefits, cards, or timelines.

What else does the Citi / AAdvantage Executive card offer?

The Citi/AAdvantage Executive Card is American Airlines’ ultra-premium credit card, with an annual fee of $695 and benefits aimed primarily at frequent travelers.

Its standout benefit is Admirals Club membership, but the card also offers ways to earn AAdvantage miles and loyalty points.

Using the entire $200 in-kind benefit offsets nearly 30% of the card’s $695 annual fee. It’s also perhaps one of the card’s most widely usable benefits. Instead of being tied to flying with American, this one offers close-to-home value. This comes on top of this summer’s card refresh, which expanded the card’s collection of travel and lifestyle benefits.

Other notable travel and lifestyle credits and benefits include:

  • Up To $500 Back On Eligible American Airlines Vacations Purchases
  • Up to $100 off onboard and eligible Admirals Club purchases
  • Up to 40,000 American Airlines Rewards Points for reaching four qualifying loyalty points milestones each year of status qualification
  • Free first checked bag on American Airlines domestic routes (for you and up to 8 companions on the same reservation)
  • Increased revenue on eligible AAdvantage hotel and AAdvantage car bookings
  • Complimentary Omni Hotels & Resorts Champion Status and annual Omni Free Night Reward after a qualifying stay
  • Avis President’s Club status (registration available until August 31, 2028)

Conclusion

The new inKind Dining Credit adds up to $200 in potential annual value to Citi/AAdvantage Executive’s growing list of benefits.

The semi-annual structure gives cardholders more flexibility than a monthly credit, although they’ll need to use the inKind app and dine at participating restaurants to take advantage.

For existing cardholders who already frequent inKind restaurants, this could be a relatively simple way to get more mileage out of the card’s $695 annual fee.
