Collin Gosselin accuses mom Kate of using money and siblings to manipulate sister Hannah amid family feud
Collin Gosselin has accused his estranged mother, Kate, of using money and family to manipulate his sister Hannah amid their ongoing family feud.
During Thursday’s episode of “The View,” Collin responded to her sister’s claims that she hadn’t lived with her father, Jon, and hadn’t spoken to Collin in nearly a year — but had a relationship with her mother and other siblings, according to People.
“Families are complicated. I’ve seen Hannah several times over the last year. Me, myself, my dad at my house. I have pictures if you want to see them,” he said when asked about his sister’s allegations.
“All families are very complicated, and this statement sounded a lot like my mother’s words, especially the last part.
“What I believe is that Hannah is caught in the middle, and no one deserves that. I know how it feels, you have to fight to have a relationship with your siblings. I don’t have one with my siblings, and I know how much that hurts,” he continued.
“Not only is she caught in the crossfire, but I believe my mother is either exploiting her finances or Hannah’s relationship with our siblings over Hannah,” he said.
Collin shared that throughout his childhood, he fought to get the same approval from his mother.
“Even today I see her and I’m like, ‘Why do I feel bad for my mom?’ I shouldn’t feel bad for someone who did those things, but that’s called having a heart,” Collin told “The View” co-hosts.
He explained that he thought his sister was trying to do some “pre-damage control” ahead of their upcoming Netflix documentary about the family, much of which has already been filmed, according to Collin.
“Hannah spoke a lot of truths, not only about the things my mother did to me, and corroborated those things, but she also spoke about the things she experienced at the hands of my mother,” Collin claimed.
“So now I think unfortunately she’s trying to do damage control before the damage, because my mother put this guilt on her. It’s not Hannah’s fault, she should be able to have a relationship with her father, with her mother, with all her brothers and sisters, everyone should have that,” he said.
“It’s not her fault, but I blame my mom because she’s exploiting this to Hannah’s detriment,” Collin said.
Page Six reached out to Kate’s rep for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication.
However, she has already denied all of Collin’s claims in his new memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” in which he accuses her of abuse.
On October 13, Kate also responded to a comment on TikTok that called Collin’s book “terrible lies,” saying, “Logical or rational people or anyone who has struggled with mental illness understands what’s going on here. »
She also “liked” a comment alleging that Collin would “regret all of this one day” and that he was “encouraged and enabled by other dysfunctional and mentally ill people.”
“Exactly! I had nothing to do with it other than consent because it was medically necessary,” the TV personality responded.
Collin’s book also sheds light on his experience living in the mental institution his mother placed him in in 2016.
Kate previously defended her decision to institutionalize her son in 2023, saying she did so “after years of outpatient treatment that had proven insufficient for his needs” and “for my safety, that of his siblings, and for his own well-being.”
He also claimed that Kate kept him locked in a “small holding cell” for two years and that the TLC camera crew for their show “Kate Plus 8” and his siblings were not allowed to see him.
Kate has also denied these allegations.
When Kate and Jon separated, he lost custody of the children. However, he filed for full custody of Collin two years after he was institutionalized and won. He also gained custody of Hannah.
The rest of her sextuplet siblings – Alexis, Joel, Leah and Aaden – and her older twin sisters – Mady and Cara – stayed with Kate.
