Cowboys lose as ex-Eagles players stand out to Cardinals in Dallas starter
The Philadelphia Eagles received some good news ahead of their Week 8 Sunday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders, with the Dallas Cowboys choking and losing to the Arizona Cardinals!
It looked like the Cowboys were headed to victory. They took a 14-point lead at the end of the third quarter and Arizona was not seriously threatening to win:
But the Cardinals replaced quarterback Jacoby Brissett with former Eagles backup Gardner Minshew. And that change clearly paid off as Minshew went 17/23 for 188 passing yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 137.3 passer rating.
It is then the cardinals who almost was the game won; they scored a touchdown with just six seconds left in the fourth quarter…but Chad Ryland missed the go-ahead extra point to keep the tie at 30 points apiece.
The Cardinals then went three-and-out to start overtime, allowing the Cowboys to win the game with a field goal. But former Eagles edge rusher Josh Sweat had a huge third-down sack to force Dallas into a punt.
From there, the Cardinals headed to the field for the victory!
