Daily Wire’s Pro-ICE Film Must Suspend Production

Production on Daily Wire’s pro-ICE film “Pawn Shop” was temporarily halted in Livingston, Montana, following a special city commission meeting Saturday.

The action comes as Livingston residents have raised concerns about the film’s impact on local businesses – including the town’s only food bank – as well as inappropriate reporting of dangerous stunts. During the meeting, residents expressed concerns about the filming, saying it put them in danger. City Commission member Cindy Daniels said she felt “they took advantage of the situation to make their movie…We’re not profiting from this movie. So they’re not thinking about the veterans who live on K Street. They’re not thinking about the food resource center.”

The Livingston Commission concluded: “A motion to immediately and temporarily suspend the permit of Bonfire Pawn Shop LLC while seeking legal advice from the City Attorney in a timely manner to modify, suspend or revoke the permit to return to the commission no later than 5 p.m. on October 5.” »

Daily Wire did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for feedback.

The filming halt comes days after Livingston residents protested production of the film, which would have included an opening scene depicting the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good in Minnesota earlier this year.

The Livingston Food Resource Center released a statement on Instagram Friday, explaining how the “Pawn Shop” filming has affected its customers.

“People who already face many barriers to meeting their most basic needs do not face completely avoidable additional barriers to accessing food because of the way this production has been permitted,” it reads. “We were not informed of filming plans,” the statement continued, noting that the pantry’s attendance was down 17% Tuesday, “an eight-week low after seeing more than 90 to 100 households per day. This is unacceptable.”
