Dave Portnoy Confirms Report of Big Noon Kickoff Departure, Blames Ryan Day, Ohio State
Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports personalities no longer appear on FOX Big noon kick-off, Athletics Andrew Marchand reported. Before the report, Portnoy confirmed it and placed the blame on Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day.
Portnoy, a famous Michigan fan, posted on X Friday night that he had not yet seen Marchand’s article, but accused Day and Ohio State of complaining to the Big Ten. Portnoy then said the conference “then had no choice” but to put him “on ice.”

“Ohio State and Ryan Day bitched and moaned at the Big 10 and threatened Fox until they had no choice,” Portnoy posted on X Friday night, in part. “The juice wasn’t worth (sic) the pressing and (sic) frankly, I don’t blame them (sic).
“Huge dollars on the line and Cryin Ryan throws tantrums and (sic) makes threats every few days over something I said. I always knew Ryan Day was soft, but damn even I didn’t (sic) realize he was that soft.”
In a later article, Portnoy accused Day of getting him “fired” from Big noon kick-off. In the post, he said that wasn’t the case during his previous jobs at WEEI, ESPN or when he faced an NFL ban.
In light of the move, Athletics reported that FS1 would continue to air Wake Up Bar Stool The morning. Other shows could also be added as part of the partnership between the two parties, according to the report.
Portnoy, Dan “Big Cat” Katz and other Barstool personalities appeared on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff just over the last year. The partnership began after FOX began broadcasting Wake Up Bar Stool on FS1 as part of its revamped daytime lineup. Portnoy also said Barstool College Football would continue and hinted the show could go to Columbus.
During Portnoy’s first year Big noon kick-offmultiple reports indicated he was at risk of being banned from Ohio Stadium. However, the Big Ten said later Portnoy would not appear on the set of the show in any stadium. Instead, the main crew of Rob Pierre, Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, Marc Ingram And Urban Meyer were shown at the end of each episode as they made their choice.
News of Dave Portnoy’s departure and Barstool Sports Big noon kick-off arrives as the show prepares to head to the Twin Cities. The program will be present before Michigan vs. Minnesotawhich will air on FOX early in the window Saturday with kickoff at noon ET.
